Kennington Park Community Centre (KPCC Oval) is a hidden gem next door to the world-famous Kia Oval Cricket Ground. Designated an Asset of Community Value by Lambeth Council, it is at the heart of the Kennington Park Estate and is run by community volunteers for the benefit of the local community.
Following a successful campaign by the local community in 2016/17 to save it from closure, KPCC Oval is now a thriving local resource, with facilities that enable us to provide much-needed services for the community. All income from hiring these facilities is used to maintain the Centre and support local community activities.
Kennington Park Community Centre Community Benefit Society has charitable status, and a Lease with Hyde Housing which means that we are responsible for bookings and the day-to-day management of the Centre, while Hyde as our landlord continues to be responsible for major repairs and maintenance.
Hyde is currently working with the CBS to carry out a major refurbishment of the Centre, which will include improved lighting, audio/visual equipment, security, kitchen, toilet and storage facilities.
As well as activities such as exercise classes and holiday play schemes, the Community Centre is also available to hire for individuals and organisations to meet and socialise. The Centre’s facilities are fully accessible and comprise a large hall with a capacity of up to 80, two smaller meeting rooms, a kitchen and some outdoor space. Please note we are not licensed and do not allow alcohol on the premises at any time.
Our aim is to encourage community cohesion, reduce social exclusion and isolation and make our community feel safer and stronger. Community is at the heart of everything we do and we are proud to be able to run services and activities that improve the lives of local people.
